Explore Dr. Parker's many accomplishments as Editor-in-Chief | Now Indexed in Web of Science, PubMed & Scopus | | | | Celebrating the Leadership of Founding Editor-in-Chief Kit Parker | Under Dr. Kit Parker's leadership, Biophysics Reviews (BPR) has grown into a leading home for the global biophysics community. His vision and commitment—from launching the journal to guiding its evolution—have left a lasting impact on the field. We are deeply grateful for his many years of service and outstanding contributions. |
From the earliest days of the journal during the lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic, serving as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of Biophysics Reviews has been the most important professional development exercise of my career as a professor. The challenges of implementing a long-form review journal at the interface of physics, biology, engineering, and medicine have been offset by the fantastic corp of editors who joined me in the effort. I am grateful to them and the authors for setting the foundation for a journal that serves our field. In this next chapter of Biophysics Reviews, in an ever-changing scientific publishing landscape, I hope for new ideas and formats to better serve the biophysical community. | | - Kit Parker Harvard University, USA | | | | | Dr. Parker's many accomplishments as Editor-in-Chief include:
- Broadening the biophysics community by recognizing biophysics as both a pure and applied field
- An extensive list of long-form reviews in the cardiovascular field that cover patient care, basic cardiovascular experiments, and both experimental and modeling
- Developing new publishing formats to include short reports and visuals that are more amenable to the fast pace of the field
- Special Topic issues across a broad spectrum of specialty niches
- Building an international team of editors from industry and academia
