Networks of mobile underwater sensors possess outstanding advantages compared to individual counterparts. There has been extensive research on these networks and impressive results have been reported on various occasions. As a result, there are also increasingly more efforts for sea trials of mobile underwater sensor networks, which is especially important for both theoretical and technological development. This Special Topic aims to cover the latest innovations, research findings, and practical implementations related to mobile underwater sensor networks with acoustic components. Researchers, engineers, and industry professionals are especially encouraged to share their relevant insights and experiences gained from the sea trials or field experiments.
