Based on his substantial contributions to our understanding of x-ray matter interaction – summarized in his three seminal textbooks – and his early realization of the potential of coherent x-ray beams, he was pivotal in paving the way for the first hard x-ray free electron laser. |

As the first director of LCLS, he has fostered the use of x-ray pulses for time-resolved studies in a variety of fields. Personally, he made numerous significant contributions to the study of magnetization dynamics from the atomic length scale to the mesoscale. We call for reviews, forward looking perspectives, and original articles investigating dynamics in condensed matter systems influenced by or related to Professor Stöhr's work. | Topics covered include, but are not limited to: | | | Ultrafast magnetization dynamics | | | | Textures and their motion | | | | Magnetic data storage and switching | | | | Dynamics at surfaces and interfaces | | | | | Time-resolved x-ray spectroscopy | | | | Time-resolved imaging (PEEM, STXM) | | | | Coherent (resonant) x-ray scattering | | | | Interference based x-ray imaging (holography, coherent diffraction imaging, ptychography) | | | | Stefan Eisebitt, Max-Born-Institute |
