Deadline extended to June 30, 2025 | | Seeking the Next Editor-in-Chief for Chaos | After 10 years of dedicated service, we thank Professor Jürgen Kurths for his remarkable term as Editor-in-Chief. Thanks to his vision and passionate support, Chaos has grown into the premier journal of nonlinear science at the service of researchers from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
We are now seeking the next editor-in-chief who will have the opportunity to shape the future of Chaos. You would play a key role in ensuring the scientific quality of the journal, facilitating a fair and timely peer review process, and selecting manuscripts for publication. | Candidates should be highly regarded scientists working in nonlinear dynamics, complex systems, or other relevant research fields. The successful candidate will: - Have a strong, visible presence in the community and a deep understanding about the research developments in nonlinear science
- Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the role and strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Work collaboratively with a committed editorial team and the publisher to enact policies and initiatives that translate into a successful editorial program.
- Support growth of the journal by collaborating within AIP Publishing's mathematical sciences portfolio, prioritize author-centric practices to best serve the needs of a diverse scientific community, maintain high editorial and ethical standards, and support AIP Publishing's Open Science strategy.

There are no geographic limitations to the editor-in-chief's location. The initial appointment is for five years with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be paid an honorarium commensurate with the roles and responsibilities of the position. | The search committee welcomes either applications or nominations of potential candidates. A nomination can be a brief note suggesting a suitable candidate. An application should consist of a curriculum vitae and a statement of the applicant's vision and future aspirations for Chaos. The statement should be no more than 3 pages and should include a few paragraphs on the candidate's leadership experience, community involvement, and scientific accomplishments that make them uniquely qualified for the editor-in-chief position. |

| | | | We believe there has never been a more important time to stand firm in support of independent, open science. AIP Publishing is committed to ensuring authors can publish in open access journals regardless of their economic status. If you've been impacted by recent events in the U.S., APC waivers and discounts may be available in cases of financial need. Additionally, authors based in low-income and lower-middle-income countries, as classified by Research4Life and the World Bank, are automatically eligible to receive either a full waiver or a discount on the APC price.
These are just a few of the ways in which AIP Publishing lives up to the promise we made to the global research community when we joined with the American Physical Society and IOP Publishing to form Purpose-Led Publishing, a coalition committed to the simple idea that science is our only shareholder. |
