Learn more about Prof. Singh's research interests and publications | New Gold Open Access Journal | | | | Meet Our Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Ranjan Singh | AIP Publishing is pleased to announce the Editor-in-Chief of our newest gold open access journal, APL Engineering Physics. | This new and exciting gold open access journal is dedicated to publishing impactful, interdisciplinary research that leverages the principles of physics to tackle complex engineering challenges and pioneering technological innovations. The journal serves as a dynamic platform for studies at the intersection of physics and engineering, focusing on analyses of the physical phenomena driving new technologies and insights into physics-first approaches for engineering solutions across diverse fields.
I am excited to launch APL Engineering Physics as a journal built by and for researchers pushing the limits of what physics can do when applied to engineering challenges of tomorrow. Having worked across continents and disciplines, I have seen the power of interdisciplinary science firsthand. This journal will be a global stage for that kind of pioneering work. | | Ranjan Singh University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA
Ranjan Singh is a trailblazing scientist and professor of electrical engineering at the University of Notre Dame. Internationally acclaimed for his pioneering research in terahertz photonics, spintronics, and metamaterials, Dr. Singh has consistently pushed the frontiers of engineering physics.
After earning his Ph.D. in Photonics from Oklahoma State University in 2009, Dr. Singh furthered his impact as a postdoctoral fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Since 2013, he held progressive academic appointments as a professor of physics at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where he founded TeraX Labs, now recognized as a global leader in terahertz innovation.
An elected Fellow of OPTICA, Dr. Singh is celebrated for his seminal advances in on-chip topological photonics, terahertz high temperature superinductors, ultrafast terahertz spectroscopy, active metamaterials, and next-generation metamaterial sensors. His current research drives the development of terahertz hybrid electronic-photonic systems for 6G and beyond, alongside pioneering work in terahertz photonic integrated circuits, spintronics, and quantum materials. His influence is reflected in his repeated recognition as a Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher in Physics (2020, 2022, 2023), underscoring his profound impact on the global scientific and engineering community. |

| We believe there has never been a more important time to stand firm in support of independent, open science. We work hand-in-hand with the global scientific community to safeguard the integrity of science. We ensure fair and rigorous peer-review of all published manuscripts, follow COPE guidelines for publication ethics, and work with the STM Integrity Hub to protect and preserve the integrity and ethical standards that serve as the bedrock of high-quality scholarly communications.
These are just a few of the ways in which AIP Publishing lives up to the promise we made to the global research community when we joined with the American Physical Society and IOP Publishing to form Purpose-Led Publishing, a coalition committed to the simple idea that science is our only shareholder. |
